Landscape in Wang Longsheng’s paintings enjoys great poetry, seeping into the heart. Thin haze mists the distance, the air is clear with a slight chill, the tranquil lake reflects the natural light, while the rich grey – green tone pushes the reality farther and lighter. When drawing landscape of hometown, Wang Longsheng adds more “sentiment” in his brushstroke.

Sichuan, where he was born and brought up, sears an indelible memory on his mind with its peculiar sceneries. Looking at Wang Longsheng’s paintings, we find the crisscross paddy field, meandering irrigation ditches, simple thatched cottage, mottled walls, paths fractionized bright under footprints and pear trees in white blossom, all of which are landscapes of human appeal, existing with trace of human’s activities. Wang Longsheng’s landscape paintings are full of sense of humanities, which contributes to the depth of the paintings; on the other hand, he decreases the visual sense in restraining tones but strengthens spiritual depth, making a lyric and romantic style, a genuine emotion as well as more profound connotations.

Wang Longsheng has advanced into a new vista after constant efforts and hardships, showing us a simple and tranquil sense of beauty not existing for ages. In green rivers and lush grass, natural light and reflections in water and thatched cottage with a bamboo fence, we can find a place to stop for a rest and comfort for mediocre life.
