Aleksey Gritsai (1914 – 1998), of great reputation as a landscape painter in Russia, has been spoken highly of his personality and paintings’ quality by art lovers and his fellow artists. Even when he was in his eighties, he went to his studio at a fixed time every morning, living among his artworks finished or being created. He felt close with frames, easels and paints smelling turpentine in his studio. He took pleasure in creating beauty of nature and never got tired for decades of years.
Once an active art activist, Aleksey Gritsai took part in many activities of art associations as well as many major art exhibitions. He had been a teacher for a long time in Moskovsk the State Academic Art Institute of Name Surikova, enjoying as “people’s artist” and academician of the Russian Academy of Art. He had maintained good relations with generations of artists in Russia from old to young. He’s respected by Russian people, with his artworks highly praised. |
