A social ideology which reflects the civil life by image-building and at the same time, express the authors thoughts and feelings.  This is the definition of Art in Xinhua Dictionary.

Art is often considered as an image which is profound and obscure, away from the common taste of beauty and separated from the popular interest. It makes most of the people feel distanced. On the other hand, comic and cartoon are much closer. It can be seen in most people’s daily life and even indispensible. Comic and cartoon influence the thoughts and feelings of many generations.

In contemporary art, the use of specific images is not bonded. It can be classical figures, ordinary people or even sand, animals and daily products. All of these are related to artists’ lives and their personal experiences. The things that have the greatest influence on the artists can be transformed into abstract symbols.

Nowadays, comic and cartoon became part of our life. Thus it comes very naturally that they were used in artistic creation. In most people’s eyes, artistry is intricate and elaborate; however, comic and cartoon images are popular and interesting. How could the combination of these two generate new idea of art? This is a dialogue between two fields, a topic waits for us to explore and discuss.
