Childhood to many people is special and precious. As time passes, memories of childhood seem to vanish. However, as the brain becomes forgetful, the heart still carries the deep and truthful memories. The influences of childhood reflect upon one’s behavior and shape one’s unique character.
Murakami Saki lives in a veterinarian family. A lot of her works portray the images of child and animal, which is a vivid memory of her childhood. In her works, imageries are cruel yet pitiful, standoffish yet full of live. From her works one can feel the sympathy which is exhibited through agony.
As a print artist working with copperplate is not an easy path; and yet Saki is determined early on in her career. For her, copperplate is like the heart of human and the scratches on the plate are the thoughts and emotions attached to one’s soul. No matter these experiences are heartbreaking or joyful, they are the traces of life. They form the artist’s character and give her work heart and soul.
